Sponsor a Tree Planting Day

Tree Planting Day Treeproject

What are you doing for Earth Day?

April 22nd 2024 is one of our favourite days of the year, it’s Earth Day! This global, annual event, first celebrated in 1970, raises awareness of the importance of protecting our planet and its natural resources. It encourages people to share the responsibility to protect our planet and actively engage in conserving the environment.

This year’s theme, Planet vs. Plastics, calls to advocate for widespread awareness on the health risk of plastics, rapidly phase out all single-use plastics, urgently push for a strong UN Treaty on Plastic Pollution, and demand an end to fast fashion.

Sponsor a Tree Planting Day

Our volunteer growers are currently growing over 100,000 indigenous seedlings in their own backyards for landowners who have placed seedling orders with us. With over 50 planting days planned to plant these seedlings, we are looking for partners to sponsor each of these tree planting days.

We can plant up to 1000 seedlings (numbers may vary between sites) in Victoria for you or your organisation in a day – the cost for a one-day sponsorship is only $1000.

Your sponsorship would help to cover the cost of organising and running a planting day.

Who we are

Since 1989, TreeProject has been getting urban and rural communities working together to put trees back on the land. Our network of trained volunteers grows indigenous seedlings for rural landholders and Landcare groups who need our help with revegetation. We then recruit more volunteers to plant seedlings in the land.

Why do we do what we do

Planting trees improves the environment and benefits the community in a variety of ways:

  • preventing soil erosion, allowing streams and rivers to flow smoothly
  • provides summer shade and winter shelter for animals
  • provide habitats and food for native fauna
  • sequestering carbon emissions that would otherwise enter the atmosphere, reducing their effects on climate change.
  • planting seedlings in bushfire-affected areas to support the koala population, wildlife corridors and windbreaks

Sowing the seeds for a sustainable future together this Earth Day.
