Do you like planting trees or can you help with the preparation of growing kits at our work depot?  Does fundraising come easily to you? Do you have talents as a writer for social media posts?

Volunteers are the lifeblood of TreeProject and the organisation could not exist without the dedication of volunteers in all areas.  It’s also fun working with like minded people to help achieve a common purpose.

Here are some of the areas where volunteers are needed:

Ongoing Groups
(Groups meet regularly, usually online)

  • Fundraising
  • Grower Recruitment
  • Communications
  • Technology
  • Processes
  • Social Connection

Each of the above groups consists of volunteers who who are led by one or more Group Administrators.  When you offer to help with a Volunteer Group, you will become part of that group and work with other like-minded volunteers.

Bank/Casual Groups
(We’ll ask for your help when needed)

  • Seed Management
  • Seed Packing
  • Depot Working Bees
  • Tree Planting
  • Planting Team Leader
  • Admin Assistance (DB updates)
  • Research (mostly via internet)
  • Botanist/Horticulturist
  • Specialist Growers
  • Community Presentations
  • Events, Expos, Field Days
  • Grower Education
  • Nursery Work

The above groups are made up of volunteers who are called on when needed. Some only operate at certain times of the year.  You will be advised of volunteering opportunities by email.

Portal Access and Joining a Volunteer Group

Volunteer Groups are all accessed through the TreeProject Portal, a web based “app” that allows you to work together as a group.

To get started, you need to “Sign up” for the TreeProject Portal and then join a group using the Volunteer menu in the Portal.

You only have to “Sign up” once for all interactions with the TreeProject Portal so if, for example, you are already a TreeProject Grower, you will already have a Portal account. If you can’t remember your password, you can reset it on the “Sign in” page at this link: https://portal.treeproject.org.au/

Sign up for Portal Access

If you don’t already have a TreeProject Portal account, you will need to “Sign up” for the TreeProject Portal.  Screenshots and full details of the sign up process are available in:  TreeProject Portal Sign up Guide for Volunteers.pdf

If you already familiar with this type of “Sign up” process, you may wish to proceed using the following steps:

  • Click through on this link: https://portal.treeproject.org.au/
  • Sign up for the TreeProjectPortal by clicking on “Sign up now” (below the “Sign in” button).
  • Enter your email and a verification code will be sent to your email. It usually takes a few minutes and some cases it may take longer.  Also keep an eye on your junk email as sometimes the verification email is treated as junk.
  • When you receive the verification code in your email, copy it to the web form and and click on “Verify code”.
  • Once verified, complete the other fields (Password, First Name, Last Name, Full Name and Mobile Number). Some items to note are:
    • Just ignore the blue “Change email” button
    • For Full Name, enter the same details as First Name and Last Name. Apologies for the request to enter these details twice but this is so that we can check if your details are in our existing system.
  • Click on “Create”.
  • This will then return to the original “Sign in” screen.
  • Sign in with your email and password
  • Enter your address
  • Click on the Volunteer menu and select “Join Group”

After you have applied to join a group (or groups) you will receive a confirmation email.  For ongoing groups, a Group Administrator will then be in touch to bring you into the group so that you can join other like minded volunteers in your area of interest.  Note that Group Administrators are also volunteers so a response will not be immediate.
