When they say that not all superheroes wear capes, I back up that a million times.
Luca is my favourite superhero of them all, and maybe the youngest. And instead of capes he has worn gardening gloves and carried a water can with him since a very young age.
This is Luca, my son, a nature lover and an outstanding human with a soft, caring soul.
Our wonderful child planted his first tree in our backyard just after turning 1, and he has been helping out in the garden, caring for the wildlife and our world ever since.
I have had the pleasure of having him as my gardening mate during sunny and rainy days, winter and summer, and he has come so happily along with me to so many planting days!
Luca recently turned 6, and this year for his birthday he wished to ask his friends for trees instead of presents (Do not stress! He still got presents on his birthday too!).
We made the birthday invitation together and I helped him to create the fundraising page, where we explained to friends and family that his wish was to be able to plant 14 trees for his birthday, as that is Luca’s favourite number.
And clearly, I am not the only fan that Luca has and not the only person that gets moved by his beautiful values, because his friends collected enough money to plant not only 14 trees, but 178!!!
All the money raised was donated to TreeProject, an organisation that we had been supporting and admiring for the last 3 years. I guess I helped with the decision of who we were going to trust the most to send the money to. And when I say trust I mean who was going to do the most outstanding job and has similar values than ours?
We love TreeProject, their mission, their compromise, their passion, their ability to inspire others and bring people together. And if you are reading this, I know for sure you would feel the same way.
I am sharing Luca’s story, not only because I am incredibly proud of him and I admire him to bits, but also because I want to inspire you all, the same way he inspires me to do my best at making our planet a better place for him.
